About: The Climate Adapted Seed Tool Portfolio Reliability Optimizer (CAST PRO) identifies diversified portfolios of seed sources that maximize expected growth and survival while minimizing downside risk. It explicitly quantifies and incorporates more sources of uncertainty (e.g., climate, genetic performance) than current versions of CAST. By integrating data from seed-transfer experiments with CMIP6 climate forecasts and applying concepts from academic finance, CAST PRO aims to support decisions that balance expected tree growth and survival with robustness to a range of potential future conditions.
